Dreamy, ghostly.... other worldly

Just discovered these beautiful, other worldly photos by stylist and photographer Vikki Ivie. Inspired by inner worldly dreams, nature and Sarah Moon, she captures the essence of femininity in a ghostly and ethereal way.

Elena Dawson

Whilst still in London last week we popped into Dover street Market for some wardrobe inspiration, and came across some beautiful pieces by Elena Dawson, we studied at the same University back in the day and I loved her work then and equally love it now, I found this write up about her on stylezeitgeist

Elena Dawson is a womenswear and menswear clothing/shoe-maker.

Born in London, Elena studied Art and Fashion Design before co-founding Paul Harnden Clothiers in 2000, the clothing division of Paul Harnden Shoemakers. She was an instrumental part of the design, concept, and business until 2006, when she decided to establish an independent clothing and shoe label.

All the beautiful images are from her blog!

Street Style Inspiration

We love: Bill Cunningham the original New York street style photographer for the New York times. He has been snapping away for the past 50 years, cycling around and capturing the cool and the stylish. This documentary is an intimate portrayal of his life and work.

Vintage Style Icon

We love :Emilie Floge the great muse of Gustav Klimt. Not only  muse but also one of Vienna's most exclusive courtiers between 1904 and 1938, she established her fashion Salon Schwestern Floge in 1904. Her own inspiring range of folk textiles influenced the colourful, abstracted patterns found in Klimt's paintings.

We Love: These women's mugshots from the 1920's were recently uncovered at the New South Wales police department archive. They are part of a collection of around 2500 showing the seedy underworld of early 20th century australian life.

We love...

Claude Cahun retrospective at La Virreina Image Gallery

After many years of relative obscurity, the photographs of Claude Cahun (born Lucy Schwob, 1894-1954) are now very much at the forefront of art history. They have featured in numerous exhibitions over the last twenty years and been the subject of many studies. This retrospective, the first to be organised on this scale in sixteen years, sets out to show the diversity and essential unity of her art, but also to place it in the context of the artist’s intellectual development, the boldness and singularity of which significantly inform today’s scene.

This exhibition was organized by Jeu de Paume, ParĂs, and coproduced with La Virreina Centre de la Imatge, Barcelona, and The Art Institute of Chicago.
