Make do and mend..

Of course there is nothing we like better than finding an old handkerchief or a treasured shirt at a flea market, faded with age and repaired in all corners with intricate stitches..precious things that were worth the time spent to repair them.. in days where it is more normal to discard ripped blouses or broken plates it is a delight to see such beautifully repaired items especially when it comes beloved household items. So we thought we would share some images from one of our favourite blogs, Past Imperfect, that is dedicated to all things that that have been inventively and lovingly repaired, from stapled plates and cups, patchwork teapots and wire weaving a pearl-ware ladle back to life, and don't they look all the more beautiful for it!

Robadors, Romeo and Juliet at the Liceo.., palomas, La Paloma! The bourgeoisie in their vintage cars, park Guell, Encants, the Apolo, Barceloneta, Barcelona by night, Sant Jordi, antique book fairs, Tapies, La Merce, and the old folk...aaahh if only we could book a little trip back in time!

Globe Shopping...Bungalow 8 Mumbai

Antiques and Boutiques love a good lifetyle store, and Bungalow 8 just outside of Mumbai is one of our favourites. We visited it a few years back when we took a trip to India for a few months and wanted to bring the whole store back in our satchels! Set up in 2003 in a historic 3 storey building in the Colaba area, it features antique floors, carved wooden doors and high ceilings. With everything from crockery to antique cupboards, textiles, bed linens, unique pieces, both modern and vintage, the owner Maithili Ahluwalia has found pieces made by the best craftsmen from all over India. The top floor is dedicated to fashion and there is an exclusive jewellery range from by French designer Mattieu Leguillan who has worked for YSL and Lanvin, so luckily we found some things that we could bring home!

The Art of Craft

My good friend and fellow shoemaker Isabel de la Roche just sent me this short film from Caroline Groves bespoke shoemaker. It really does show the hand crafted shoe making process in motion and as an art.
